How Are You Using Xen Project Software?

=== Sessions Announced: ===
We are actively looking for people who are willing to talk about:

Following were confirmed speakers and presentations discussed in New York:
- How you use our project’s software in your datacenter or lab
- How you integrate the Xen Project hypervisor in your solution or cloud
- How you control the software with custom scripts or utilities
- Why you chose Xen Project software instead of some other hypervisor
- How much you time or money you saved by using our software
- Where you’d like to see our project go in the future

* Konrad Wilk, Xen Project 4.5 Release Manager, Oracle Corporation — reports on the advances and features to be included in the upcoming Xen Project 4.5 release;
Also, we’d welcome talks about:

* Peter Linnell, Linux Technical Specialist, SUSE – gives an overview and demo of Xen Project software in OpenStack with SUSE Cloud;
- Features of the newest release and how to use them
- New projects building on Xen Project software which could open new avenues for end users (like the work around GPU virtualization, cloud operating systems like MirageOS, and additional architectures like ARM)
- Instructive HowTo sessions to educate attendees about implementing particular capabilities within the software
- The use of related products and projects like XenServer and Xen Orchestra to make our software even more powerful in the datacenter

* Don Marti, Technical Marketing Manager, Cloudius Systems – instructs how to deploy C and Java applications directly on Xen Project virtualization using OSv;
This promises to be one of the best opportunities for users and integrators to come together and learn from people who have plenty of insight into using Xen Project software. This may be the best chance all year to become educated about the hypervisor and the subprojects.

* Olivier Lambert, founder of the Xen Orchestra Project, Vates -- discusses Xen Orchestra, a web-based interface for the Xen Project Hypervisor, as well as XenServer using the XAPI toolkit.
== We are Waiting for Talk Proposals from You! Respond by May 31. ==

* Steven Maresca, Senior Security Engineer, Zentific LLC — talks about Zazen, a security framework for the cloud that uses several of Xen Project software’s latest features to deliver VM security;
The submission deadline is May 31, 2014. Go to the event’s [[http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/xen-project-user-summit/program/cfp|CFP page on the Linux Foundation’s website]] to submit your talk proposal.

* Johnny Hughes, CentOS Project – outlines using and understanding Xen4CentOS and shares the latest developments with the CentOS Virtualization SIG;
Events like this are only as good as the content and attendees. We don’t care if you are not a polished speaker, as long as you have something of interest to say. Don’t know if your Xen Project story is all that interesting? Let us be the judge — submit your talk proposal and we will be happy to review it. It may be just the topic which can help out someone wrestling with the same issues you have already conquered. Need some inspiration? Check out some of the videos marked “XPUS13″ in our video area, like this talk from last year:

* Grant McWilliams, Custom Product Engineer, Sound Linux Training and Consulting — discusses the lessons learned from provisioning a large numbers of XAPI-based security appliances;

* Russell Pavlicek, Xen Project Evangelist – describes many of the advanced security features with Xen Project software that can be used in either traditional virtualization environments or a cloud;

* Will Auld, Performance Architect, Intel Corporation — introduces a high availability project called COLO, (COarse-grain LOck-stepping virtual machine solution for non-stop service);

* Tim Mackey, XenServer Community Manager, Citrix – presents XenServer.org one year later and a look at the next release;

* Adam Wick, Technical Director, Systems Software, Galois Inc. - defines what "unikernels" (sometimes called "cloud operating systems") are, why they are important to the future of cloud computing, and when and where to use them;

* Lars Kurth, Xen Project Advisory Board Chairman, Citrix – reports on the activities of the Xen Project Advisory Board, as well as the development community.
