This page documents the process of gathering monthly statistics submitted to the Advisory Board as indications of activity in the Internet community.

Metrics to be Gathered for the Board Meeting

XenProject.org:

-- registrations
-- enabled
-- newsletter subscribers
-- Q&A discussions
-- events upcoming (minus CFP)
-- CFPs upcoming
-- events past
-- XenUsers new messages
-- wiki visits

Social Media:

-- Slideshare uploads (analytics)

How To Gather the Metrics:

XenProject.org Metrics

  • registrations:
Backend: Users > User Manager
Goto End page
Calculate (number of users per page) * (number of pages - 1) + number of people on final page
  • enabled:
Backend: Users > User Manager
Click on Enabled field header to sort list by enabled
Find page where users with green Enabled field meets those with Red
Calculate (number of users per page) * (current page number - 1) + number of Green Enabled users on that page
  • newsletter subscribers:
Backend: Components > AcyMailing > Lists
Use Subscribers shown on the Newsletter list
  • Q&A discussions:
Backend: Components > EasyDiscuss > Discussions
Click on End page
Calculate (number of discussions per page) * (current page number - 1) + (number of discussions on current page)
  • events upcoming (minus CFP):
Frontend: ABOUT > Events
Count number of upcoming events (but not CFPs)
  • CFPs upcoming:
Frontend: ABOUT > Events
Count number of upcoming CFPs
  • events past:
Frontend: ABOUT > Events > Past Events
Click on End page
Calculate 20 * (current page number - 1) + (number of events on current page)
  • XenUsers new messages:
Frontend: HELP > Mailing List
Go to Search Markmail, enter "xen-users" and press Search
Click on com.xensource.lists.xen-users
Mouse over the prior month on graph (current month is partial) and record number
  • wiki visits:
http://wiki.xen.org/stats/
Enter username and password for this page
Summary by Month > Monthly Totals
Look for the line for the prior month (current month is only partial)
